My agility journey 2019

So this has been my first year of competing with my little merl girl Kyla.  I can honestly say that I have been blown away by how well she has done, definitely exceeding all my expectations.  When you train your dog to do a certain job you never really know how it’s going to go until you get out there and try.  An agility dog not only has to negotiate its way around the course in the quickest time, it also has to cope with the different environments both indoors and out, the differing surfaces and equipment and also the sheer volume of noise and excitement generated at these shows.  I’m pleased to say she has taken it all her stride and I have watched her grow in confidence as well as ability.

My favourite run this year has got to be the Olympia qualifier. Kyla ran it beautifully & ended up qualifying for the Kennel Club International finals

I decided not to do it this year as I felt she needed more practice on certain equipment, but I was extremely proud of her. She also qualified for a few other events one being the Secrets Cup which was held at Blenheim Palace.  It was so much fun, with lovely people, beautiful surroundings and it was a great experience.  To round the year off she reached the highest competing grade which is 7. She has entered 2 grade 7 shows and already has 3 wins. Next year we will now be eligible to compete in the champ classes so I am really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together in 2020.
